A Stand Against Nuclear Proliferation

A prime example of the nuclear escalation between two countries was during the 1970’s between India and Pakistan. The rival countries raced to achieve regional nuclear supremacy. Meanwhile, many social needs went neglected as necessary funds went towards the nuclear programs. A domino effect starts once a country in a particular region craves nuclear weapons. This situation creates an unstable outlook for all inhabitants. Reports are that several countries in the Middle East are planning to develop nuclear technology as a result of Iran’s actions.  A country’s mindless pursuit of nuclear weapons results in a downward spiral that breeds wariness.

The global nuclear threats are numerous. The areas of concern start with the large number of stockpiled nuclear weapons in the United States. Another concern is the growing nuclear black market in the former Soviet Union. Also a stronger focus must be placed on the number of terrorist groups attempting to gain nuclear arms. The moment one country or group has launched a single nuclear strike, consequent retaliation will occur. One nuclear strike will likely trigger a series of nuclear attacks involving multiple countries. The result would be a widespread catastrophe.

Our aim is the reduction of nuclear weapons. The reasons are plentiful. We strive to preserve peace, the environment and our future. Our tools are knowledge, education and organization. Take a stand against nuclear escalation!
